Circa 1890's, a nicely preserved pair of flashy faceted 'French' Jet earrings.

Of hand faceted black glass, it would have involved hours of work to create each piece which would likely have formed part of a matching suite of immensely fashionable Jet jewels. Pieces such as this are a scarce find nowadays as so often they have broken over the years since they were made. The earrings measure just over an inch across and 1.5 inches from the top of the wires which are of a Steel type base metal.
